Felted vs. Plush

What you're actually comparing

Both can sit on a shelf. Only one is made from your pet. Here is the honest difference, side by side.

  Handcrafted needle-felt (Padmori) Mass-produced plush
Material Wool, needle-felted by hand Synthetic fibre and polyester fill
Made from Your pet's own photos A generic pattern, one shape for everyone
Likeness Face, expression, coat pattern and markings recreated from your photos Approximate breed shape at best
One of a kind Yes — each piece is made once, for one pet No — identical units off a production line
Before it ships You see a preview and can ask for changes before it is finished Nothing to preview; it already exists
Lead time 5–8 weeks Ships immediately
Price From $670 — includes all US import duties and customs clearance. No fees on delivery. Lower upfront, but not a likeness of your pet

Lead time and pricing reflect Padmori's current published terms. Details: our refund and preview policy.

The trade-off, stated plainly

Plush is faster. Felt is truer.

  • If you need something this week, a plush is the honest answer. We will not pretend otherwise.
  • If you want to recognise your own pet — the way their ears sat, the white patch on the chest, the exact expression — that has to be made, and making it takes weeks.
  • On timing: custom memorial work in this category is often quoted at around six months. Padmori's current lead time is 5–8 weeks.
  • On cost: the price you see includes all US import duties and customs clearance. Nothing is collected from you at the door.
Two forms

Framed portrait, or full-body sculpture

Both are needle-felted by hand from your photos. Choose the form that fits the space you have in mind.

  • Framed portrait — 6″, 7″ or 8″. Focuses on the face and markings you recognise instantly.
  • Full-body sculpture — 15cm, 20cm or 30cm. The whole silhouette, posed the way they used to settle.
